Alisson has been hit with an £8,000 fine for kicking the fourth official’s board in frustration near the Anfield tunnel after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.

The incident came at full-time on Saturday, with cameras picking up the Liverpool goalkeeper lashing out at the electronic board used to signal stoppage time and substitutions as he headed off the pitch.

Tension had already been simmering. The 33-year-old had conceded a second-half penalty, racing off his line as Liam Delap took a quick throw-in to Neco Williams, who went down under the challenge. Morgan Gibbs-White converted from the spot to put Oliver Glasner’s side 2-1 up and leave Anfield stunned.

That decision has since been branded incorrect. On Wednesday, the Key Match Incidents panel ruled that the penalty should not have been awarded, adding another layer of controversy to an already chaotic spell in the game.

Liverpool’s anger on the touchline had started even earlier. The fourth official’s board malfunctioned while the score was 1-1, leaving the home side unable to make substitutions despite the ball going out of play three times. As the delay dragged on, Forest seized their moment, taking that rapid throw-in which led to the disputed spot-kick.

By the time the final whistle went, the frustration was written all over Alisson’s face. It spilled over in the tunnel area, where he kicked the equipment as he left the field.

An FA spokesperson confirmed that the Brazilian accepted a misconduct charge after it was alleged he “acted in an improper manner around the tunnel area”, avoiding a ban but taking the financial punishment as a costly reminder of how thin the margins – and tempers – have become in Liverpool’s season.
