Wrexham Target Callum O’Hare in £6.5m Move

Wrexham are pushing to land Sheffield United midfielder Callum O’Hare in a late deadline-day swoop worth around £6.5m.

The 26-year-old is set to undergo a medical in north Wales as the club races to get the deal over the line before the 23:00 BST cut-off. The move would be a permanent transfer, underlining Wrexham’s intent to add proven Championship quality to Phil Parkinson’s squad.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder confirmed on Monday that Wrexham had come forward for the attacking midfielder, who has been a regular for the Blades this season.

O’Hare has featured in every Sheffield United game so far, finding the net in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Cardiff City. He still has two years left on his contract at Bramall Lane, so prising him away at this stage of the window represents a significant statement from the ambitious League Two club.

Wrexham’s attacking drive

Parkinson has been hunting extra firepower all summer. Wrexham have been linked with several attacking options, including Millwall’s Femi Azeez, as they look to deepen a squad already built on front-foot football.

The pursuit has not gone unnoticed. Wilder, speaking ahead of Sheffield United’s home Championship clash with Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday (19:45 BST), described Wrexham’s late-window activity as a “blanket bombing” of the market.

“This is not a criticism, but Wrexham are in for half the division,” he said, highlighting just how aggressive the north Wales club have been in trying to secure deals before the window shuts.

Now the focus is on getting O’Hare signed, sealed and registered in time. The former Aston Villa, Carlisle United and Coventry City attacker would arrive with a strong pedigree between the lines and a recent goal-scoring reminder of his threat.

If Wrexham complete this move before the deadline, it will be another clear marker of where the club see themselves heading – and how quickly they intend to get there.
