World Champions to Receive Historic Rings in World Cup Tradition
The team that climbs the podium in New York-New Jersey on Monday will leave with more than the FIFA World Cup trophy and a set of gold medals. They will also slip on championship rings – a first in the tournament’s history and a clear nod to one of American sport’s most recognisable traditions.
For the winners of Spain vs Argentina, the moment will feel familiar to anyone who has watched Super Bowl or NBA title celebrations. Amid the confetti and chaos, the new world champions will be presented with bespoke rings, introduced by FIFA as an additional symbol of supremacy at the expanded 48-team World Cup.
This is not a token gesture. It is a full-scale project.
A total of 2,026 rings have been produced to mark the 2026 edition, each one individually numbered. Thirty are reserved for the champions: players and key staff who will have their rings custom-fitted after the tournament, then formally presented with them at a later date once every detail is perfected.
The rest – 1,996 rings – will be released worldwide as officially licensed products, aimed at supporters who want something more tangible than a replica shirt to remember this World Cup by. For fans, it is a rare chance to own a piece of the same design worn by the players who lift the trophy.
The design leans heavily into iconography. One side of every ring carries the image of the FIFA World Cup trophy, unmistakable even at a glance. The opposite side will be tailored to the winners, bearing the identity of the nation that emerges from Monday’s final as champion. Each ring comes with a certificate of authenticity, underlining its status as a collectible rather than a simple souvenir.
On the night itself, the celebrations will move fast. Immediately after the final whistle, the winning captain and head coach will be handed temporary rings on the pitch as part of the post-match ceremony, a visual statement that football’s biggest prize has borrowed a page from the American playbook.
The true, personalised versions will follow, measured, adjusted and finished to fit the hands that conquered the world.
