Valencia in Talks with Liverpool for Harvey Elliott Loan

Valencia are in talks with Liverpool over a loan move for midfielder Harvey Elliott until the end of the season, as the Spanish club push to strengthen before the window shuts.

The 23-year-old is coming off a frustrating spell at Aston Villa, where he managed just one Premier League start during last season’s loan. Game time at Anfield has not opened up either. Despite featuring regularly in pre-season under new head coach Andoni Iraola, Elliott has been left out of Liverpool’s first two Premier League matchday squads.

That has encouraged Valencia to move. The La Liga side, who finished ninth last season and missed out on European football, have been exploring how to structure a deal that fits their financial limits. They are pushing for Liverpool to pay half of Elliott’s wages to make the loan possible.

Time is tight. La Liga’s transfer window closes on Tuesday at 23:00 BST, leaving both clubs with a narrow window to thrash out the final details and decide whether Elliott’s season will unfold in Spain or from the fringes at Anfield.
