Tottenham Pursue Chelsea's Tosin Adarabioyo as Exit Pressure Builds

Tottenham are scrambling to reshape their defence in the final days of the window, with a move for Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo now firmly on the table, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Spurs have already poured serious money into this summer’s rebuild, but any late additions are now tied to who goes out of the door. And the queue to leave is growing.

Exit pressure builds at Spurs

Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that three players have asked to move on, with Kevin Danso among those pushing for an exit.

“He said too many times [Richarlison] he wants to leave. Danso came to me two days ago, and he said he wants to leave, and Pape Sarr, the same, but he suffer[ed] a small injury, but he is almost ready to train.”

That admission has sharpened Tottenham’s focus on the centre-back market. If Danso gets his wish, Spurs cannot afford to be caught short at the back.

Sunderland are showing interest in Danso as they look to strengthen before the deadline, and Spurs are thought to be open to letting him go in the coming days. That, in turn, has pushed Adarabioyo’s name to the forefront in north London.

Chelsea and Spurs circle around Tosin

Romano reports that Chelsea are working on a deal involving Tosin, opening the door for Tottenham to step in and make their move. For Spurs, it is described as a “concrete possibility” – the kind of language that suggests real negotiations rather than loose admiration.

What has not been decided is the format. Loan or permanent. Short-term patch or long-term piece of the puzzle.

There is another complication. Chelsea selling to Tottenham is never straightforward. The rivalry is real, the politics delicate. Yet Spurs would hardly be this deep into talks without some encouragement from Stamford Bridge.

Time, though, is their enemy. For both a Danso exit and a Tosin arrival to go through, Tottenham will have to move quickly and cleanly in a window that rarely allows either.

Does Tosin fit the Tottenham puzzle?

On the surface, the move raises questions. Tosin has struggled to nail down a regular starting place at Chelsea, and at this stage of his career he needs a club willing to trust him week in, week out.

Tottenham’s current core at centre-back – Micky van de Ven, Marcos Senesi and Jan-Paul van Hecke – already gives De Zerbi a defined trio. Breaking into that group will not be simple.

Adarabioyo would add depth and competition, but he is not an obvious guaranteed starter. For a player looking to relaunch his career, that matters.

There is also the tactical angle. A more versatile defensive option, someone comfortable across the back line, might arguably make more sense for Spurs as they juggle injuries, rotation and system tweaks across a long season.

Final piece of the window?

Tottenham’s business is edging towards its conclusion. After the arrival of Iliman Ndiaye from Everton, the expectation inside the club is that the final move will be at the back.

Whether that last piece is Tosin Adarabioyo, and whether it is enough to offset the loss of Kevin Danso, will say plenty about how bold Spurs really want to be in this window’s final hours.
