Tottenham Completes Omar Marmoush Deal Amid City Transfers

Tottenham’s attacking rebuild has kicked into overdrive – and Manchester City are once again the supplier.

Just days after tying up a blockbuster move for Savinho, Spurs have now reached a verbal agreement with City to sign forward Omar Marmoush, according to Fabrizio Romano. The deal underlines how urgently Ange Postecoglou wants fresh firepower after a sobering weekend.

On Saturday, Tottenham were swept aside 3-0 by Brentford, registering only four shots on target. For a club that has already thrown around £230million this summer, the lack of cutting edge was glaring. The response from the hierarchy has been immediate.

Marmoush deal: loan now, big clause later

Romano reports that Tottenham and City have settled on an initial loan for Marmoush, with a £50million buy clause that becomes mandatory if certain conditions are met during the season. Those triggers have not been disclosed, but the structure gives Spurs crucial financial flexibility.

Marmoush has already given the green light to the move. He is expected in north London on Monday to undergo a medical, after which he can complete his switch and join Postecoglou’s squad.

For Tottenham, the numbers matter. Early suggestions had indicated a combined £150million outlay for Savinho and Marmoush. That would have pushed the club’s overall summer spend to a staggering £380million once the existing £230million was factored in.

The reality is softer. With Savinho’s package potentially reaching £85million and Marmoush’s obligation sitting at £50million if activated, the combined figure for the pair is £135million. That takes Spurs’ total window outlay to around £365million – still huge, but structured in a way that eases the immediate hit on their books.

Crucially, Tottenham will not pay for Marmoush up front. The loan-to-buy format gives them breathing space as they try to stay aligned with financial regulations after an aggressive market.

There is another twist. Spurs are poised to pay less for Marmoush than City did when they signed him from the Bundesliga around 18 months ago. In a market where prices usually only move one way, that represents shrewd business if the Egyptian delivers.

Savinho already secured

The Marmoush agreement follows confirmation that Savinho is on his way to north London. David Ornstein revealed that Tottenham have struck a deal with City for the Brazilian winger worth up to £85million.

Spurs will pay £75million up front, with a further £10million in add-ons. Half of those bonuses – £5million – are described as highly achievable, underlining the club’s confidence in the 20-year-old’s impact.

Two major attacking signings, both from the same powerhouse club, both arriving at a moment when Tottenham’s frontline looks blunt. The timing is no coincidence.

Postecoglou wanted more goals, more chaos, more threat. Now he is about to get Savinho on one flank and Marmoush through the middle as Spurs gamble big on turning possession into points in the months ahead.
