Tottenham Negotiates Double Deal for Savinho and Marmoush

Tottenham Hotspur are in negotiations with Manchester City over a bold double move for forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush, with both clubs locked in talks but still short of an agreement.

The discussions, confirmed to BBC Sport by sources close to the deal, underline Roberto de Zerbi’s urgency. Tottenham finished 17th last season and scored only 48 league goals. That number is haunting the club’s summer planning, and the Italian wants firepower fast.

Savinho seeking escape after stalled City spell

Savinho has been on Spurs’ radar since 2025. The Brazilian winger arrived at City for £30m in 2024 with high expectations, but his Premier League impact never truly materialised. He started just seven league games last season and is now pushing for a way out to revive his career.

At 22, he still fits the profile Tottenham want: young, quick, and with resale value. But City, despite his limited minutes, are not inclined to sell cheaply and are looking to bank a profit on their initial outlay.

Marmoush out of favour under Guardiola

On the other side of the proposed package sits Omar Marmoush, whose situation has cooled even more sharply.

The Egyptian forward joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025 for £59m, but the 2025-26 campaign never truly caught fire for him. He scored eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions and slipped down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola last season.

That loss of status has opened the door for Spurs. De Zerbi wants more variety and depth in his front line, and Marmoush offers flexibility across the attack. City, for their part, expect a significant profit on him as well, even after an underwhelming year.

For now, the exact valuation for the pair remains unclear, but the numbers involved will be heavy.

De Zerbi’s rebuild and the Gakpo question

Tottenham’s summer already carries a hefty price tag. De Zerbi has sanctioned around £185m on midfield reinforcements alone, bringing in Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali to reshape the core of his side.

The next phase is obvious: goals.

That is why Spurs are pushing for Savinho and Marmoush while still keeping a watching brief on Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo. The Dutchman remains a live target, but there are serious doubts inside the club over whether they can afford to land Gakpo and complete deals for both City forwards in the same window.

City’s wider clear-out

For Manchester City, the talks with Tottenham form part of a broader summer reset. The champions have already moved on several first-team players, including Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders and James Trafford, as they refresh Guardiola’s squad and balance the books after years of heavy investment.

Letting Savinho and Marmoush go would continue that trend: trimming the fringes, cashing in on assets, and reshaping the attack without disrupting the core.
