Tottenham Pursues Double Signing of Savinho and Marmoush

Tottenham are deep in negotiations with Manchester City over an ambitious double move for forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush, with discussions described as progressing but not yet at the finish line.

The talks, confirmed by sources to BBC Sport, underline Roberto De Zerbi’s determination to rip up and rebuild Spurs’ attack after a grim campaign in front of goal.

Savinho Ready to Move On

Spurs have tracked Brazilian winger Savinho for years. Their interest stretches back to 2025, when the 22-year-old chose to stay at Etihad Stadium rather than push for a move.

That decision has not paid off. Savinho managed only seven Premier League starts last season, a frustrating return for a player City signed for £30m from French side Troyes in 2024. Limited minutes have shifted his stance. He is now open to leaving in search of a bigger role and a more central place in a project.

For De Zerbi, who favours quick, incisive wide players, Savinho fits the profile: young, technical, and with upside that has not yet been fully tapped in England.

Marmoush on the Market After Falling Out of Favour

Running alongside those talks is Tottenham’s push for Omar Marmoush. City paid £59m to sign the Egypt international from Frankfurt in 2025, but his time under Pep Guardiola has been uneven.

Marmoush slipped down the pecking order in the 2025-26 season, yet still produced eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions. Not spectacular, but solid enough to suggest there is more to come in a different environment and with more trust.

City’s exact valuation for the pair remains unclear. What is clear is their stance: any deal will have to reflect the expectation of a significant profit on both forwards.

De Zerbi’s Attack Rebuild

Tottenham’s summer so far has revolved around the middle of the pitch. De Zerbi has already overhauled his midfield, bringing in Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle in a combined outlay of £185m.

The message from the Italian has been consistent: the spine is changing, but the front line must follow.

Spurs finished 17th in the Premier League last season, a dismal campaign that yielded just 48 goals in 38 games. For a club that has grown used to attacking flair, that number tells its own story. The attack needs sharper edges, more variety, and more goals.

Savinho offers width and unpredictability. Marmoush brings versatility across the front line and a direct threat. Together, they would represent a bold attempt to fix a glaring weakness in one window.

Gakpo Interest Complicates the Equation

Tottenham have not parked their admiration for Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo. The Netherlands international remains on their radar, an option that would add yet another dimension to De Zerbi’s forward line.

But ambition meets arithmetic. It is unclear whether Spurs could realistically finance a move for Gakpo on top of potential deals for both Marmoush and Savinho. Something may have to give: either the scale of the rebuild, or the number of marquee forwards arriving in one go.

City Keep Selling as New Era Takes Shape

On the other side of the table, Manchester City’s summer clear-out is gathering pace. The champions have already moved on captain Rodri, midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and second-choice goalkeeper James Trafford.

Letting Savinho and Marmoush go would continue that trend, freeing up funds and squad space as City reshape under changing circumstances and a new dressing-room hierarchy.

For Tottenham, this is a window that could redefine the club’s attacking identity. For City, it is another step in a ruthless refresh.
