Tottenham's Bold Double Move for Savinho and Marmoush

Tottenham are trying to pull off one of the most eye-catching attacking double deals of the window, with talks ongoing to sign both Savinho and Marmoush from Manchester City, according to The Athletic.

Nothing is signed. Not yet. But negotiations between the two Premier League clubs are described as progressing well, and Spurs sense an opening that simply wasn’t there a year ago.

A second shot at Savinho

Tottenham chased Savinho last summer and got nowhere. City shut the door, unwilling to cash in on the Brazilian after his rapid rise.

This time feels different.

Savinho was left out of the squad for City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, a notable omission for a player previously seen as part of their long-term plans. With that, the noise around his future grew louder and Spurs have moved quickly, seeing an opportunity to finally land a wide forward they have admired for months.

Marmoush the Haaland understudy… for now

On the other side of the deal sits Marmoush, another attacker City are prepared to let go.

The Egypt international has lived in Erling Haaland’s shadow at the Etihad, used largely as a backup option. His path to regular minutes is blocked, and City have long considered him a likely departure in this window.

Tottenham, though, are looking at a very different version of Marmoush: the one who tore through the Bundesliga. He hit 15 goals in 17 games in his final half-season for Eintracht Frankfurt before moving to City, numbers that turned heads across Europe. If he can rediscover that form in north London, Spurs believe they will have secured a genuine difference-maker.

A spending spree with a plan

These moves would cap an extraordinary summer of investment at Tottenham.

The club have already committed around £229.5 million on Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, reshaping the spine of Roberto De Zerbi’s side. On top of that, they have added Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka on free transfers, shrewd deals that have padded out the squad without further denting the budget.

Despite the eye-watering outlay, Spurs remain within financial regulations. That position owes plenty to a change in stance from majority owners ENIC, who are now injecting funds into the club, and to significant outgoing business. The standout sale is Luka Vuskovic’s move to Brighton for a guaranteed £46m, a fee that has given Tottenham extra room to manoeuvre.

De Zerbi’s “bomba” and a glaring need

Earlier this month, De Zerbi teased supporters by hinting at a surprise “bomba” signing in attack. The need is obvious.

Richarlison is into the final year of his contract. Dominic Solanke has been battling injuries. For a side with top-four ambitions, that is a fragile platform to build a season on.

Savinho would bring direct running, flair and unpredictability from wide areas. Marmoush offers movement, finishing and the ability to play through the middle. Together, they would give De Zerbi the variety and depth he has been crying out for.

Building a top-four attack

If Tottenham can close both deals, De Zerbi will suddenly have one of the most dangerous attacking units in the league at his disposal. The Italian has not been shy about his ambitions, and adding two high-ceiling forwards would go a long way towards backing up his words.

For now, the focus inside the club is simple: turn promising talks with City into completed agreements before the window shuts.

If they pull it off, Tottenham’s summer will not just be busy. It will be era-defining – and the race for the top four will feel very different with Savinho and Marmoush in white.
