Sparta Rotterdam Set to Sign Isaac Babadi on Loan from PSV
Sparta Rotterdam are closing in on the loan signing of Isaac Babadi from PSV, with the deal expected to be wrapped up on Deadline Day, according to Eindhovens Dagblad.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been on the fringes at the Philips Stadion and has struggled to convince Peter Bosz he deserves regular minutes. PSV have opened the door for him to leave on loan in search of playing time.
Earlier this week, Voetbal International reported that both Fortuna Sittard and Sparta were pushing to bring him in. Sparta have now moved to the front of the queue and look set to win the race for his signature.
The agreement stands apart from Ayoni Santos’ recent move from Sparta to PSV. There is no swap element involved, just two separate deals between the clubs.
ED reports that Sparta will not take on Babadi’s full salary, but will cover part of his wages during the loan. The final details are expected to be completed and announced before the window closes.
Babadi is tied to PSV until mid-2028 and has already made 35 official first-team appearances, scoring three goals and providing one assist. On paper, it is the profile of a player who should be pushing for more. In reality, he has barely featured of late.
His last appearance for PSV’s first team came back in May of last year. Since then, his development has continued away from Eindhoven, with a loan spell at Royal Antwerp FC last season. In Belgium he played 21 official matches, but it was not enough to force his way back into Bosz’s plans.
Now Sparta are ready to offer him a new stage. The question is simple: can a year in Rotterdam finally unlock the talent PSV have been waiting to see consistently?
