Real Madrid Faces Injury Woes Ahead of Malaga Clash
Real Madrid’s injury list grew visibly on Saturday, as several key names skipped full training on the eve of their La Liga clash with Malaga at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The session began without Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, Raul Asencio, Aurelien Tchouameni, Thiago Pitarch, Rodrygo and Endrick, all ruled out of the main group work as they continue their recovery plans. It was a reminder that Madrid’s perfect start to the league season is being built with one hand tied behind their back.
Not everyone stayed indoors. Militao and Endrick stepped onto an adjacent pitch, pushing through a tailored routine: first pure physical work, then drills with the ball. No contact, no risk, but enough intensity to hint that their return is edging closer.
The most talked-about absence, though, was Tchouameni’s. His situation drew a pointed explanation from journalist Arancha Rodriguez of Spanish radio station Cope, who referenced recent comments from Mourinho: Tchouameni is desperate to play, yet the coaching staff are holding the line, insisting on a complete recovery before throwing him back into the fray. Rodriguez also underlined a key detail often forgotten in the noise around injuries and selection — the Frenchman renewed his contract at the beginning of the summer, a clear sign of the club’s long-term faith.
So Madrid go into Sunday’s third-round fixture against Malaga with momentum but without a full deck. They have already brushed aside Espanyol 2-1 and dismantled Real Sociedad 4-1, banking six points and a healthy dose of confidence.
Now comes the next test at the Bernabeu: can this depleted, reshuffled Madrid keep winning while their walking wounded edge back towards the spotlight?
