Gianluigi Donnarumma – 6
Left exposed for Bournemouth’s opener and had no chance with the finish. After that, he kept his side alive with a sharp low stop from Justin Kluivert and an excellent reaction save to claw away Daniel Jebbison’s glancing header.

Rico Lewis – 5
Stepped into midfield from right-back and tried to inject some tempo, even forcing an early save with a driven effort. The intent was there, the execution wasn’t. His influence faded and he was withdrawn before the end.

Abdukodir Khusanov – 5
Got his timing wrong in the duel with Rayan in the build-up to Bournemouth’s first goal and never recovered his position. That early mistake set the tone for a shaky outing.

Ruben Dias – 5
The new captain misjudged the long ball that led to the opener, failing to get anything on it as Bournemouth broke through. A rare off-day in terms of authority at the back.

Josko Gvardiol – 7
Caught in no-man’s land for Bournemouth’s goal, leaving a gaping hole down his side. Then, right at the death, he strode forward and buried a composed injury-time winner to flip the narrative of his afternoon.

Marc Guehi – 6
Deployed in an improvised holding midfield role and looked like a defender learning on the job. Even so, he arrived late in the box to grab a crucial equaliser. With Ayyoub Bouaddi on the way, this midfield experiment may prove short-lived.

Elliot Anderson – 6
The club-record signing worked tirelessly, covering ground and snapping into challenges. Showed flashes of what he can add, especially out of possession, without truly grabbing the game.

Antoine Semenyo – 5
Lively in pre-season, subdued here. He struggled to impose himself, rarely troubling the defence or finding the spaces he thrives in.

Nico O’Reilly – 5
Given the keys in the No 10 role but created little of real note. A few neat touches, not enough incision, and his number was up on the hour.

Phil Foden – 5
Started like he meant to run the game, constantly on the ball and producing a gorgeous flick to tee up Lewis. Then the influence drained away, and so did City’s spark in the final third.

Erling Haaland – 5
New haircut, same menace? Not this time. He somehow contrived to miss from point-blank range in the first half, then ballooned one over and scuffed another wide after the break. The chances kept coming. The finish deserted him.

Matheus Nunes (on 56, Lewis) – 5
Slotted into midfield without leaving a real mark. Kept things ticking but offered little penetration.

Rayan Cherki (on 62, O’Reilly) – 8
Transformed the game the moment he stepped on. Demanded the ball, drove at defenders, and supplied two assists that ripped Bournemouth apart. On this evidence, he’ll expect to see his name on the teamsheet at Crystal Palace.

Mateo Kovacic (on 62, Anderson) – 5
Neat and tidy, as ever, but didn’t shift the dynamic in midfield. The question lingers: should he have started instead of Guehi?

Jack Grealish (on 82, Foden) – 5
Introduced late and had too little time to truly influence the contest, offering a few trademark carries without end product.
