According to Corriere dello Sport, the long-serving sporting director has already informed Inter that he will not extend his contract, which is currently set to run until June 2027. Inside the club, the message has landed like a jolt: one of the pillars of the Nerazzurri’s resurgence is getting ready for his exit.

From youth secretary to transfer architect

Ausilio arrived at Inter in 1998, almost anonymously, as a youth sector secretary. No fanfare, no headlines. Just another figure in the backroom.

Over the next decade, he climbed step by step until, in 2010, he took over as sporting director. From that moment, his fingerprints were on almost everything. He navigated coaching changes, ownership shifts, financial constraints, and still managed to keep Inter competitive, often punching above their economic weight.

Working in tandem with Beppe Marotta, Ausilio helped build squads that brought titles back to the blue-and-black half of Milan. He became known for his ability to spot value where others hesitated, to move quickly in a market that punishes hesitation.

The deals tell the story. Free or low-cost arrivals such as Hakan Calhanoglu and Marcus Thuram transformed into cornerstones of the team.
