Manchester City Sign Ayyoub Bouaddi for €100 Million

Manchester City have struck a blockbuster agreement with Lille for Moroccan wonderkid Ayyoub Bouaddi, winning a high‑stakes race that had already drawn serious interest from Liverpool.

The 18-year-old midfielder, one of the breakout stars of Morocco’s World Cup campaign, will move to the Etihad in a deal worth up to €100 million ($116.9 million). City will pay an initial €95 million ($111 million), with a further €5 million ($5.9 million) in add-ons as they move aggressively to reshape a midfield stripped of both Rodri and Bernardo Silva.

Bouaddi’s rise has been rapid, and Europe’s elite noticed. Liverpool were among the clubs tracking him closely earlier in the summer after his composed, mature displays on the biggest stage.

Bouaddi becomes the latest pillar in a sweeping rebuild. Elliot Anderson has already arrived for a club-record £116 million ($158.2 million), and the Moroccan now joins him as another major investment in the next version of City’s engine room.

The club have tied Bouaddi down to a five-year contract with an option for a further year, a commitment that underlines how central they expect him to be in their long-term plans rather than just a depth signing for Enzo Maresca.

This is not a gentle transition. Rodri has gone. Bernardo Silva has gone. Tijjani Reijnders departed in the past week. City are ripping out the core of the Guardiola era and handing Maresca a squad that will be unmistakably his.
