Manchester City Sign Allan Elias for £34.2m

Manchester City have moved quickly to reshape their forward line, sealing the signing of Palmeiras winger Allan Elias in a deal worth up to £34.2m.

The 22-year-old Brazilian arrives on a five-year contract after City agreed an initial £32m fee, with a further £2.2m tied to performance-related add-ons. He steps straight into the space left by compatriot Savio, who joined Tottenham Hotspur for £75m last week.

Allan is a right-sided winger who came through the Palmeiras academy and forced his way into the first team before his 20th birthday. Across 96 appearances in all competitions for the Brazilian giants, he scored nine goals and supplied 12 assists, building a reputation as a direct, industrious wide attacker.

"This is a surreal moment for me. Manchester City, with everything they have won over the past 15 years, are one of the most attractive clubs in the world for players," Allan said. "To be able to sit here today and say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life.

"I love Palmeiras and always will - but the decision to come to City was an easy one. I want to be the best footballer I can be and the conversations I've had with the people at City so far has convinced me there isn't a better place for me to fulfil my ambitions."

Maresca’s rebuild gathers pace

Allan’s arrival continues a relentless summer of change under Enzo Maresca.

City have already spent more than £230m in this window alone. Elliot Anderson joined from Nottingham Forest for £116m, while highly rated midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi arrived from Lille in an £85.6m deal.

The recruitment drive is not finished. City are in talks with Liverpool over Dutch forward Cody Gakpo and remain keen on Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as Maresca looks to refresh the core of his squad with younger, high-ceiling talent.

The spending, though, has been underpinned by major outgoings.

City have brought in over £286m in player sales, headlined by 2026 World Cup Golden Ball winner Rodri’s £65m switch to Barcelona. Tijani Reijnders has also departed, joining Al-Qadsiah for £52m as part of the club’s wider reshaping of its midfield options.

Allan now steps into a dressing room in flux, at a club that expects to win everything, every year. How quickly he adapts to that reality will say plenty about where City’s new era is heading.
