OL Lyonnes, serial queens of Europe, have prised Salma Paralluelo away from Barcelona, landing the Spain forward on a four-year contract that sends a jolt through the women’s game.

The French champions confirmed the move on Saturday, announcing the signing on X and drawing a firm line under a summer in which Europe’s elite circled one of the sport’s most coveted talents. Paralluelo, 22, chose Lyon.

From tormentor to talisman

Only a few months ago, Paralluelo was the face of Lyon’s worst night of the season. She scored twice in Barcelona’s ruthless 4-0 dismantling of OL in the Champions League final, a performance that underlined why every top club wanted her and why Barcelona were desperate to keep her.
