Lukas Hornicek's Ambitious Move to Newcastle United

Lukas Hornicek arrived in English football with his emotions running high and his ambitions even higher.

The towering 198cm goalkeeper has completed his move to Newcastle United and wasted no time explaining what the switch to the Premier League means to him.

“The last few days have been an emotional rollercoaster from when I first heard about the move and now I'm so happy to be here,” he told the club’s official channels, the relief and excitement clear in every word.

For Hornicek, this is not just a transfer. It is a leap into what he calls “a brilliant opportunity in a new league,” one he says he is “very excited” to embrace. The welcome on Tyneside, he explained, made the transition feel immediate.

“From the very first moment I arrived here, I received a fantastic welcome and really felt the warmth of the club. Everyone has been brilliant in helping me settle in.”

That warmth will soon be replaced by the raw noise of St James’ Park, a stage he already seems to understand. Hornicek spoke with real appreciation of the scale of his new surroundings and the expectations that come with them.

“I know Newcastle is a huge football city, with 52,000 fans at St James' Park creating an incredible atmosphere and pushing the team every game. I can't wait to play in front of them.”

Newcastle have not brought him in on sentiment. His numbers in Europe last season did most of the talking. Seven clean sheets in the Europa League turned heads across the continent and forced recruitment teams to take notice. Newcastle’s did more than that.

Sporting director Ross Wilson underlined why the club moved decisively for the young goalkeeper, hailing the speed and scale of his rise.
