Liverpool Plans 2027 Signing of Striker Djylian N'Guessan

Liverpool’s present is frantic. Its future is being quietly stitched together in the background.

While the club waits to finalise a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola and continues to hunt for immediate first-team firepower, the recruitment team has pushed ahead with another long-range strike on the market.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign St Etienne striker Djylian N'Guessan, with the teenager scheduled to arrive at Anfield in the summer of 2027. The agreement is in place with both club and player, and N'Guessan has been authorised to undergo a medical as part of the process.

The fee remains under wraps, but the strategy is crystal clear. Liverpool are building a queue of talent for tomorrow while the noise of today’s window rages on.

It follows the recent agreement for Genk goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans, a €35 million signing who is also set to join next summer. Two major deals, neither of them for this season, both pointing to a club intent on locking down the next generation early.

Supporters will enjoy the long-term ambition. They will still want more help for the here and now.

Who is Djylian N'Guessan?

N'Guessan only turned 18 recently, yet he has already tasted senior football with St Etienne. A centre-forward by trade, he can also operate from wide areas, giving him the kind of positional flexibility Liverpool increasingly value across their front line.

He has made 13 senior appearances so far, several of them during the 2024–25 campaign, while spending most of his minutes with St Etienne’s B team and under-19 side. Internationally, he has been capped up to under-20 level for his country, underlining his standing as one of the more highly regarded prospects of his age group.

For now, though, his path runs through Saint-Etienne. Staying in France, playing regularly and growing away from the glare of the Premier League may prove far better for his development than an immediate jump into Liverpool’s squad.

Liverpool, meanwhile, can wait. They have placed their bet on N'Guessan’s potential and ring-fenced a striker for 2027.

The question is what the forward line will look like by the time he finally walks through the doors at Anfield.
