A player of his age and profile sitting out a showpiece final only fuels the sense that something is shifting behind the scenes.

After the final, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi did little to cool the speculation. Speaking to Canal+, he said: “We will see in the next days. We are discussing, we are negotiating.” For a club that only months ago treated Barcola as part of their long-term core, that line matters.

It signals a change: the France international is no longer untouchable. PSG are at least open to the idea of a sale if Liverpool put the right offer on the table.
