Leah Davidson Joins Charlton Athletic as Triple-Title Winner

Charlton Athletic have moved to sharpen the heart of their midfield, signing Australian international Leah Davidson from A-League Women powerhouse Melbourne City on a two-year deal.

At 25, Davidson arrives with the profile of a player used to winning. She spent the last six seasons in Australia, lifting three consecutive league titles and establishing herself as one of Melbourne City’s most reliable performers. More than 100 appearances for the club underline her durability and consistency since her move from Brisbane Roar in 2020.

Her form in the A-League Women pushed her onto the international stage, earning four caps for Australia and exposing her to the intensity and standards of top-level football. That experience now crosses hemispheres to The Valley.

Davidson becomes Charlton’s second signing of the week, following the capture of goalkeeper Anna Koivunen from Djurgardens IF, as the club quietly pieces together a spine built on pedigree and resilience.

"I am so excited to be here and be a part of something so special," Davidson said, reflecting on the decision to leave a club and a league where she had become a fixture. "I spent six years at Melbourne City. I loved it, grew as a player and a person, but I thought: 'I can't say no to this opportunity.'

Charlton have given her that opportunity. Now comes the test of whether a serial winner from Australia can help drive a new chapter in south London.
