Juventus Target Kolo Muani as PSG Negotiations Progress

Juventus are running out of summer, but not out of ideas. With the new 2026-27 Serie A season less than a month away and no new centre-forward through the door, the club’s pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani has shifted from option to priority.

The Old Lady let Dusan Vlahovic walk when his contract expired on June 30. Contacts over a possible extension have not been completely severed, but the club’s transfer strategy has clearly moved on. Juventus have been scouring the market for a different type of No 9, someone capable of stretching defences, attacking space and fitting Luciano Spalletti’s more fluid attacking plans.

Kolo Muani ticks those boxes. He already knows Turin, and Turin already knows him. During a loan spell in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign, the Frenchman struck eight goals in 16 Serie A appearances, a return that re-ignited his reputation and left Juventus with a simple question: why let him be just a temporary fix?

That question now underpins weeks of negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain. Earlier this week, reports detailed Juventus’ latest proposal: a season-long loan with an obligation to buy for €40 million plus add-ons. The structure is designed to protect Juve’s finances today while satisfying PSG tomorrow. With the bonuses included, the total package edges close to the €50m valuation the French champions have been holding out for.

The gap, it seems, is narrowing.

On Wednesday, CEO Giovanni Carnevali gave the clearest public indication yet that Juventus feel they are approaching the finish line. Asked what was still missing before an agreement with PSG could be reached, he replied: “I hope not a lot.”

Short sentence, big message. Juventus believe they are in the decisive phase.

For Spalletti, the timing matters as much as the fee. Pre-season plans are built around patterns, partnerships and automatisms, especially in attack. Every day without a focal point up front is a day lost. Kolo Muani’s previous stint in Turin offers a shortcut: he knows the league, understands the club’s demands and has already shown he can carry the weight of the shirt.

PSG, for their part, hold the contract and the leverage, but also a player whose long-term future in Paris has looked uncertain. A deal that pushes the fee towards their asking price, while removing a question mark from their squad, has its own appeal.

So Juventus wait, but not passively. The offer is on the table, the structure is clear, and Carnevali’s words suggest the final details are now a matter of fine-tuning rather than reinvention.

If the agreement lands in time, Spalletti will walk into the new season with the mobile, hard-running centre-forward he has been targeting for weeks. If it drags on, the risk is obvious: a campaign of high expectations beginning with a hole right down the middle.
