With the paperwork dragging on, Bisiwu has been training and playing with Barça Atlètic rather than standing idle. Club staff see that as a structured pathway, not a demotion.

Mundo Deportivo report that the 18-year-old is set to start for Rafa Márquez’s side in a friendly against Reus on Wednesday, August 26, a deliberate step to help him settle into his new environment and match rhythm.

The delay already cost him a place in Barcelona’s La Liga opener against Elche. That omission had nothing to do with form or fitness. Flick had seriously considered calling him up, but the club simply couldn’t complete his registration in time because of the ongoing visa process.

So Bisiwu’s first weeks in Barcelona have been unusual: training like a first-teamer, blocked by bureaucracy from actually appearing in La Liga, and funneled into the reserve side to make sure the lost days don’t turn into lost months.

Barça Atlètic as a launchpad

The minutes with Barça Atlètic are part of a defined strategy. By playing under the same footballing ideas and demands as the senior side, Bisiwu can adapt to the club’s style while staying sharp.

Starting against Reus is another step in that direction. More game time, more rhythm, more chances to show he can translate training-ground promise into match situations.

Formally, he is registered with the reserve team. Strategically, Barcelona view that registration as a tool. When first-team opportunities are scarce or blocked by admin issues, he can drop into competitive fixtures with Barça Atlètic instead of watching from the stands.
