Jersey Bulls Suffer Major Blow with Goalkeeper Injury

Jersey Bulls have been dealt a major early-season blow with goalkeeper Pierce Roche ruled out for around three months after breaking his collarbone in their FA Trophy exit.

The injury came in brutal fashion. Roche dived to his right in the shootout, trying to keep out Hayes and Yeading United’s third spot-kick from Ross Derham. He missed the save – and paid a heavy price.

He immediately looked in trouble, clutching his shoulder, but stayed on and insisted on finishing the shootout. Clearly in pain, he could only watch as Brendan Matthew stepped up and buried the decisive penalty to seal a 4-1 win for Hayes after a 2-2 draw in normal time.

Roche has been the Bulls’ first-choice keeper at the start of this campaign, starting both of their matches so far and making 11 appearances for the island side in the 2025-26 season.

Now Jersey must quickly adjust. They are back in action on Tuesday evening with a trip to Moneyfields in the Isthmian League South Central, and they head there without the man who has been guarding their goal.
