Jérémy Doku Signs New Five-Year Contract with Manchester City

Jérémy Doku has nailed his colours to the Manchester City mast, signing a new five-year contract that could keep him at the Etihad until 2031.

City confirmed the winger’s extension on Thursday, with the deal also including an option for an extra year. It continues a summer of renewals for the Premier League champions, with Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol and Abdukodir Khusanov all committing to long-term contracts in recent weeks.

Doku, 24, became a key part of Pep Guardiola’s attacking rotation last season, making 47 appearances in all competitions and scoring eight goals. His direct running and one‑v‑one threat have given City a different dimension on the flanks, and the new deal underlines how central the club see him to their next cycle.

While Doku settles in for the long haul, the midfield picture around him looks far less stable.

Reijnders talks gather pace

Sources have told ESPN that City are in negotiations with Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah over a deal for Tijjani Reijnders. Discussions are ongoing over a package worth more than £50 million, with no agreement in place yet but talks described as active.

Reijnders only arrived at City last summer from Milan for £46.5m and, like Doku, featured 47 times in all competitions in his debut campaign. One year on, he could already be heading for the exit as Saudi clubs continue to push aggressively for established European talent.

City are not expected to simply cash in and stand still. According to sources, the club intend to move for replacements if any midfielders depart before the transfer deadline, with plans already being shaped behind the scenes.

Rodri saga looms over City’s midfield

Hovering over all of this is the future of Rodri, the heartbeat of Guardiola’s side and the player City can least afford to lose.

Inside the club, there is a growing acceptance that the Spain international is likely to join Barcelona. The Catalan side have already seen a second bid of £55m rejected, with City valuing the midfielder — who has just one year left on his contract — at more than £60m.
