Hansi Flick Pushes for Karim Adeyemi's Arrival at Barcelona

Hansi Flick wants no delays. Not with this one.

The new Barcelona coach is pushing for Karim Adeyemi to be in the building by Monday, when the squad is due to report back for the start of pre-season. According to Gerard Romero, Flick “hopes that Adeyemi will be with the group on Monday at the start of the Blaugrana preseason,” a clear signal of how central he considers the Borussia Dortmund winger to his plans.

Barcelona have already caused a ripple in the market by moving for the 24-year-old, whose pace and direct running fit the profile Flick has been demanding from his wide players. Adeyemi is said to be keen on the switch to Camp Nou, viewing the move as the next step in a career that has already taken him from Salzburg to Dortmund and into the Germany setup.

The personal side of the deal appears to be done. Reports suggest Adeyemi has agreed terms with Barcelona, leaving the clubs to thrash out a fee in the coming days. Time is tight. Pre-season starts next week, and Flick wants his attacking puzzle pieces in place early, not scrambling to integrate a major signing in late August.

Complicating his preparations is a threadbare cast for day one. Many of Barcelona’s headline names are either still involved at World Cup 2026 or on a delayed break after their exertions at the tournament. That makes Adeyemi’s early arrival even more valuable: Flick needs players he can work with immediately, players who can absorb his ideas while others are away.

There is also history here. Flick knows Adeyemi well from his spell in charge of the German national team, where he got a close look at the winger’s raw speed, vertical movement, and willingness to attack defenders one-on-one. That familiarity helps explain the urgency. This is not a speculative punt; it is a coach targeting a player he already trusts.

For Dortmund, the negotiation now centers on price. For Barcelona, the clock is ticking. Flick wants his new winger on the pitch, not on a wish list, when the first whistles of pre-season training cut through the Catalan summer air on Monday.
