Everton Sign Jutta Rantala from Leicester City

Everton have struck a deal to sign Finland international Jutta Rantala from Leicester City, prising away one of the most dangerous forwards in the Women’s Super League over the past two seasons.

The 26-year-old still has a year left on her Leicester contract, so Everton are expected to pay a fee, underlining how highly she is valued despite a recent knee injury. Talks between the clubs had been ongoing, with the move following a growing transfer corridor between Merseyside and the Midlands.

Earlier in the summer, France forward Noemie Mouchon arrived at Everton from Leicester on a free, while Wales international Hannah Cain also returned to Merseyside from the Foxes. Now comes the headline act: Rantala, Leicester’s standout performer in 2023-24.

Everton land Leicester’s talisman

Rantala joined Leicester from Swedish side Vittsjo GIK in 2023 and adapted quickly to English football. She scored 13 goals in 48 appearances for the Foxes, but the numbers only tell part of the story.

Last season she was named Leicester’s player of the season and finished as their top scorer, a rare bright spark in a side that spent much of the campaign fighting for survival.
