Brenden Aaronson Signs Contract Extension with Leeds United

Brenden Aaronson has nailed his colours to the Leeds United mast, signing a three-year contract extension as he entered the final 12 months of his previous deal.

The 25-year-old becomes the third cornerstone of Daniel Farke’s side to commit his long-term future to Elland Road this week, following new agreements for Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle. Leeds wanted continuity after a season of calm in the top flight. They’re getting it from the heart of their team.

No doubt in my mind

Aaronson, a key figure in Leeds’ stabilising 2025-26 campaign, made no attempt to hide how straightforward the decision felt.

Reflecting on his new deal, he told the club’s official website: “It's a dream come true being at this club and being a part of this project. It's so ambitious. It's a beautiful club and I love being here. There was no doubt in my mind. I think it was easy for me to make this decision, and I am so excited about what the future has in store."

Talks moved quickly. The United States international was clear he wanted to stay, and the club were just as clear they wanted him driving their midfield for the foreseeable future.

A creative constant under Farke

Aaronson’s numbers back up his importance. He has racked up 129 appearances for Leeds, scoring 14 goals and supplying 10 assists, his only spell away from West Yorkshire coming during a loan at Union Berlin in 2023-24.

Last season he featured 42 times in all competitions, registering four goals and five assists. Only Anton Stach created more chances than Aaronson’s 37 in Farke’s squad, underlining how often he set the tempo and unlocked defences.

His renewal caps a busy and calculated window for the Whites. With Aaronson, Rodon and Bogle all tied down, Leeds have layered fresh arrivals on top of a settled core. Harry Wilson, Nico Elvedi, Tarik Muharemovic and James Trafford have already been added to strengthen Farke’s options across the pitch.

The message is obvious: this is evolution, not another reset.

Tough opener, strong pedigree

Attention now swings to the start of the 2026-27 Premier League season, and a demanding opening assignment. Leeds travel to the City Ground on Saturday to face Nottingham Forest, a venue that has treated them harshly in recent top-flight history.

They have gone 14 Premier League visits there without a win. That’s a streak that nags at a club of Leeds’ size.

Yet their record on opening day tells a different story. The Whites have lost just two of their last 18 top-flight season openers, a habit of starting well that Farke will lean on as he sends out a side increasingly built in his image — and now anchored by a midfielder who has made it clear he sees his future in white.
